One Love Manchester
In historic fashion, Telescope acted as the global Facebook broadcaster for multi-platinum recording artist Ariana Grande’s One Love Manchester benefit concert.
In the wake of the terrorist attack after her concert at the Manchester Arena, Grande organized the benefit performance, inviting, amongst others, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and Coldplay. Telescope, with its award-winning experience in delivering production and streaming capabilities for high capacity events, powered the global Live feed and donation mechanic on Facebook using its end-to-end streaming management platform, Live Studio.
With only 72 hours to execute a highly effective solution, Telescope coordinated across multiple stakeholders, including the BBC, LiveNation, Facebook, and Ariana Grande’s team, meeting tight deadlines while ensuring quality and stability throughout.
Telescope provided its production expertise and support across multiple areas, from feed pipeline management and on-site stream encoding, to broadcast graphics design, all produced within a matter of days.
Turning awareness into action, Telescope’s Live Studio platform allowed more than 22 million live viewers to donate to the victims and their families while sharing and driving more support globally across Facebook.
The broadcast was a historic success – with more than 22,500 people raising upwards of $450,000 directly on Facebook via the Donate Button – with a $20 average donation. This far exceeds the industry standard.
Although Live+Donate is relatively new, the total amount raised from Facebook represents approximately 13% of all funds raised during the benefit, highlighting the power of the Facebook platform.
Peak concurrent viewers totaled almost 570,000 people, one of Facebook’s highest numbers for a single stream. 80M+ total VOD audience.
