Sales Director

The Sales Director position is a new role - reporting to the CEO, Jason George - designed to lead efforts to build and grow a healthy pipeline of new sales opportunities and expanded client relationships, helping us strengthen Telescope’s leadership and brand recognition amidst the dynamic digital media industry. This commercial leader will extend Telescope’s market reach and penetration by confirming new clients in a range of adjacent and new markets. The Sales Director will leverage the success Telescope has delivered in revolutionizing television-audience participation with its early development of the worldwide reality-competition phenomenon American Idol. Telescope brings both the technology & service capabilities proven at scale and a solid footprint in the media industry for this Sales Director to build upon across a variety of markets including participation television in different genres, adjacent sectors such as sports and live events, and content marketing for brands.

The priorities for the role include:

  • Leverage professional network and proven sales experience to build and maintain a healthy pipeline of new sales opportunities and improved client relationships
  • Expand market presence, capturing the demand in adjacent segments: Identify and prioritize segments for growth
  • Deepen and extend media partnerships: accelerate the growth of Telescope’s industry footprint and deepen customer penetration through strategic partnerships and sales. This leader is expected to directly drive revenue growth for the Company.
  • Build brand: expand recognition of Telescope brand in the broader marketplace
  • Work in close partnership with the Account Management team: they will fully support “solution selling”, pitch preparation and ongoing relationship management, in conjunction with the sales director, to ensure this role can focus on pipeline growth and new relationships
  • Work in close partnership with marketing to ensure new market opportunities are identified, verticals and targets have awareness of Telescope and product/service capabilities are tailored to meet the opportunity

Experience

The ideal candidate is a hands-on sales person with a passion for how digital marketing and social engagement is evolving, a contact base and reputation to match. S/he will bring:

  • Proven history of driving new business in a B2B company, ideally with sales acumen from digital. This person will be have an extensive range of contacts and be adept at building and maintaining relationships, and not afraid to make targeted ‘cold calls’
  • A track record that includes consultative sales experience from customer acquisition to joint solutions development.
  • Creative and entrepreneurial spirit as per start-up and/or small business experience. The savvy and appropriate ‘scrappiness’ to be productive in a dynamic, lean environment and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the Company.
  • Stellar interpersonal & relationship management skills, bringing to Telescope a valuable network. Self-confident and adept at presenting ideas to important constituencies, earning the confidence and trust of others.
  • Understanding of Telescope’s ecosystem and go-to-market, staying abreast of relevant and emerging trends; thus bringing perspectives on new market opportunities and considerations for Telescope. The balance of strategic sense to identify & evaluate compelling opportunities with the execution and commercial thrust to drive it forward. Ideally, the candidate will have demonstrated the ability to expand business in a dynamic market and establish collaborative relationships with new customers. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to drive tangible results and facilitate continuous improvement. He/she should possess market understanding such that he/she can creatively broaden Telescope’s services to adjacent industries. Importantly, she/he must be able to integrate effectively into Telescope’s culture with proven ability to build strong relationships.

Likely demonstrated by engaging with product & technology teams, feeding market insights into roadmap requirements, working hand-in-hand with account management team, and working with marketing on pricing and positioning.

Location

The position will be located in either Los Angeles or New York City.

Digital Producer

The Digital Producer reports to the VP, Digital and is responsible for managing the production process of interactive HTML5 applications including, trivia, polls, data visualizations, play along experiences and more from concept to final delivery. The Digital Producer works with designers and developers, as well as the clients to ensure smooth process flow and successful campaigns. The ideal candidate has the experience with digital applications, strong attention to detail, and have a positive attitude in times of stress.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the production of desktop, tablet and mobile applications with social network integration from concept to final delivery
  • Work  with designers and developers, as well as the clients to ensure smooth process flow and successful campaigns
  • Manage all aspects of assigned projects, including but not limited to working with designated client and vendor contacts
  • Develop working knowledge of Telescope’s in house technology solutions
  • When necessary, support the Telescope Sales team to provide information required to win projects
  • Develop project specification through meetings / discussions with Telescope Sales and clients while ensuring profitable solutions for both client and Telescope
  • Strategic input to clients on best solutions for maximizing response rates and consumer friendly mechanics
  • Prepare project plans and timelines
  • Plan and build applications using Telescope Connect platform
  • Ensure project objectives are achieved on time and with accuracy
  • Respond quickly to changes in requirements / ad hoc client or Tech team requirements
  • Sometimes work unsociable hours to support clients and projects
  • Regular contact with clients and vendors to keep them informed of progress, issues or changes to requirements
  • Document writing including conference, status, next steps and ad hoc reports
  • Prepare timely and accurate reports
  • Handle customer care (phone and e-mail)

Required Experience

  • 2 + years’ agency-side experience as a Producer directly related experience
  • Experience of managing projects with web and mobile development technologies
  • Knowledge and interest in social media platforms - including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram - as well as new developments in the Social space a big advantage
  • A creative sensibility  and the ability to define an engaging user experience
  • Client facing/management experience of project scope and delivery
  • Planning, managing and delivering large scale, quick turnaround projects
  • Working in cross functional teams and leading by influence
  • Developing product/project specs and ability to identify and prioritize project requirements
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communications skills
  • Competencies in Trello, Google Analytics, CMS campaign maintenance, issue tracking software tools and communications tools are a bonus

Project Coordinator

The Project Coordinator reports to the VP, Digital and works with producers, designers and developers, as well as the clients at times to ensure smooth process flow and successful campaigns. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in digital/social applications, strong attention to detail, and has a positive attitude in times of stress.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop working knowledge of Telescope’s in house technology solutions to enable the implementation and building of web, toll free and SMS applications/services
  • Understanding of wireless industry practices and requirements to enable the implementation of client projects
  • Responsible for utilizing additional technology (landline/IVR,  HTML Applications, Twitter,  Facebook etc) required for projects
  • Assist with the production of desktop, tablet and mobile applications with social network integration from concept to final delivery
  • Assist with the Project Managers with all aspects of assigned projects, including but not limited to working with designated client and vendor contacts
  • Prepare project plans and timelines

Javascript Developer/Programmer

Reporting to the Lead Developer and working with members of the Telescope Inc Operations team, the Developer will take on day-to-day responsibilities for the design and development of web based applications, user interfaces and APIs. We are looking for a bright, well rounded web developer with good backend and front end skills.

The ideal candidate would be a quick learner that will be able to contribute to a diverse group of projects and applications and have pride in the work they do. The developer will work as part of a team to design, develop, and support a growing number of interesting projects for a wide range of clients, using the LAMP stack, with a focus on web based user interfaces development. This is a Los Angeles based position.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on web development experience
  •  Solid understanding of Javascript, JSON, and Javascript OOP.
  • Experience with jQuery and other Javascript frameworks(Backbone, Angluar, Knockout, etc.)
  • Programming experience with focus on Object Oriented Programming and MVC design
  • Strong HTML, CSS and JavaScript experience required.
  • Experience building web applications, User Interfaces, single page apps, and database-driven websites.
  • Experience with Cross browser compatibility.
  • Knowledge of security with and common web site vulnerabilities.
  • Must be passionate about pixels, spacing, paddings, and margins. 
  • A good eye for design and be able to match a designer’s expectations
  • Experience with Twitter Bootstrap and/or responsive design
  • Mobile web experience a plus
