Native App to support the play along, support content and vote experiences for ABC's American Idol.
Telescope has powered American Idol voting since its launch in 2002. With several Guinness World Records and many industry firsts, Telescope has partnered with the brand on many innovations. In 2018, American Idol was relaunched on ABC and wanted to increase voter participation with a native application for iOS and Android users that included not only the key vote experience but serve as a centralized hub for all things Idol including user generated content, show content, play along experiences and of course the main show vote.
Telescope worked with ABC to design and develop an American Idol companion Native App. Users were able to sign into ABC’s proprietary login and vote for contestants on both iOS and Android devices. In addition to expanding the vote methods for the season, the native apps allowed viewers to learn more about contestants, play along for early audition epsiodes, follow the judges via a social fan feed and create unique content. For fans that couldn’t get enough, video playlists were curated and available for binging as well.
