GOAL:

Powered American Idol voting since its launch in 2002, garnering several Guinness Book of World Record 

  • Evolved voting channels from Toll Free and SMS to a full range of online, social and mobile applications – including playalong and social engagement
  • This season: Idol went live “coast to coast” for the first time enabling everyone across the US to participate in real-time. Ratings improved 20%, the show saw highest ever engagement rates and opt-ins for Disney OneID, and time on site more than doubled. The show was subsequently renewed for 2019.

SOLUTION:
  • Innovated with “world firsts” mechanics like Google Search voting and real-time Facebook fan wall visualizations
  • For the re-launch on ABC, created Idol’s first dedicated mobile application to power play-along experiences, UGC content creation, and live voting
  • New 2018 App will enable fans to interact with judges and other fans via the Social Fan Feed
  • Best-of-suite digital tools supplement TV engagement with increased voter turnout and enhanced fan live experiences
