The long-awaited final season of Game of Thrones was coming to an end and HBO wanted to satisfy the show’s super-fans through the fiery season with special ways to interact with the series and their favorite characters.
In a Game of Thrones prediction style “Who will take the throne?” experience, customers voted for the character they think is most likely to take the throne by simply saying “For the Throne” into their voice remotes. A digital “throne” poll showed fans who they thought was worthy of the crown.
HOW IT WORKED
Telescope integrated directly with Comcast’s Xfinity Set Top Box to process, validate, and aggregate votes in real-time. Users would speak into their TV remotes and call-up the “Claim The Throne” polling experience. Viewers would vote for whomever they think would be on the throne at the end of the show and see current standings for all nominees.
After voting a special character badge could be sent directly to your phone to share with friends, family, and show who you think will claim the Iron Throne.
