OVERVIEW

As the title sponsor of the Six Nations Championship, Guinness wanted to enhance the fan experience by harnessing the real-time conversation happening around the rugby championship on Twitter.

The Diageo Innovation team approached Telescope to oversee the campaign and manage content strategy, Twitter live streaming, and all broadcast graphics.

Hosted by former rugby player Will Greenwood, the Twitter live streams featured special appearances of professional rugby players.  The campaign included multiple locations across the UK, starting with the live stream from the Guinness Village at Flat Iron Square, London Bridge - a communal hub created by the brand for fans to enjoy all things rugby.

HOW IT WORKED

For each Six Nations Championship match, Telescope powered and managed three live streams on Twitter and Periscope covering highlights from before, during, and after the game.

Live streaming:  Utilizing our Live Studio platform we incorporated interactive elements throughout the live Twitter stream - including Twitter polls, Twitter UGC with social moderation, and unique real-time graphics to engage fans and drive participation.

Additionally we worked with Twitter to create a custom hearts visualization – the Harp-Meter –featuring the Guinness logo.    Fans were able to show their support for teams by tapping the “hearts” in real-time, which drove engagement and reach during the stream.
