BRIT Awards invited music fanatics everywhere to impact the winning outcome by voting via social platforms.
The BRIT awards are an annual celebration to honor British musicians, where the majority of category winners are selected by the Voting Academy, a group of music industry insiders. To further engage music fanatics beyond the live tune-in, the BRITs turned to Telescope to power the social voting, allowing the fans to impact the winning outcome. Over the years, we've helped drive fan engagement through voting via social platforms such as Twitter or TikTok.
Twitter vote (2019): Fans voted for their favorite British artists by logging into their Twitter account and Tweeting the designated hashtag for their favorite nominees. Hashtags were promoted on BRIT Awards social media accounts as well as the BRIT Awards website.
TikTok Vote (2022): Once on the TikTok app, all users had to do was search the hashtag #BritsTok in the discover tab, click the link presented on the hashtag page (which took them directly to the vote site within the native app), and then vote for their favorite artists across 4 categories.
Results were announced during the live broadcast of the BRIT Awards ceremony.
Twitter vote: Hashtag voting drove social engagement and fan interest surrounding the awards.
TikTok Vote: This was the first-ever TikTok vote powered within the UK. Fans could easily scroll through TikTok and cast in their votes for their favorite artists across various categories instantaneously.
