Telescope premiered our new and improved Autograph product live on the red carpet at the 90th Academy Awards. Using the new "selfie" feature, celebrities snapped and signed selfies directly from the red carpet.
To boost viewership and social awareness of the Oscars Red Carpet Facebook Live broadcast, ABC turned to Telescope for a unique experience with our digital autograph product that gave fans signed autographs from stars in real time. Viewership was well above 100k and dozens of lucky fans received personalized autographs.
During the Facebook Live Broadcast, fans commented for an autograph as the stars walked down the Red Carpet. An off camera moderator approved comments to present and the stars simply took a selfie with the tablet web application, signed it with their finger and pressed send. Signed autographs were automatically sent back as a reply to the comment where fans could share and save them.
The signed photos were featured throughout the live Oscars: All Access presented by AT&T coverage on a large screen behind hosts Ben Lyons and Sofia Carson. We used Telescope's API feed to integrate with ABC’s graphics system and the whole event was live streamed on The Academy's Facebook page, with cross promotion on ABC Networks' Facebook page.
During the show, Ben and Sofia surprised & delighted Facebook fans who had commented on The Academy's Live Stream by reading their comments and promising them a signed photo of their favorite celeb after the stream ended.
The activation of our Digital Autograph tool saw great results.
