Multi-channel voting with aggregated verified results
The Voice is one of the leading talent competitions with a big focus on audience participation. Partnering with Telescope since its launch in 2011, it has become the premiere social TV show.
From the very first season of NBC’s The Voice, Telescope has innovated and powered multiple voting methods to drive audience engagement with the brand. The Voice voting methods have included toll-free, text message (SMS), online, native app, hashtag voting, Xfinity (X1) Set Top Box and iTunes.
Following the show, voters had an overnight window to cast their votes using multiple methods. Telescope’s high-capacity system collected, counted and aggregated all votes, and verified results were aired during subsequent episodes of The Voice.
Toll-free: Voters called the toll-free (per artist) phone line to cast their votes
SMS: Users texted the keyword to the short-code (Sponsored confirmation message)
Online: Voters logged in with email or FB via the NBC.com website or by using the native app and submitted their votes for their favorites.
Xfinity (X1) Set Top Box Vote: If you have Comcast and an X1 set top box you can vote using your remote control.
Hashtag voting: Twitter users tweeted using the hashtag to vote for their favorite artist
iTunes voting: Users could visit the iTunes store and purchase select songs performed by The Voice artists. Each song purchased counted towards the featured artist.
Toll-free: Phone line voting with sponsor integration
SMS: Text message voting with sponsor integration
Online: NBC Website
Online: STB Alt standard vote
App: NBC native iOS and Android app
Comcast: Xfinitiy/Set Top Box (i.e. voice remote)
iTunes: Featured songs purchased from the iTunes store during the voting window counted towards that artist’s total. The artist with a highest stream total also received a bonus
